Many years of contemplation, banter and painstaking debate has taken place prior to launching our lives online as DIY renovation junkies (and we’re so excited you’re coming along for the ride).
Behind the scenes
It may sound crazy, but choosing the right name was a huge roadblock for us and subsequently many bottles of gin-and-tonic and wine may have been consumed in the brainstorming process.
Picture us summarising our skills into snappy-words whilst dining out, cycling, driving or even as we lay awake at night. We would laugh at ourselves, pronounce the words like we’re royalty or being welcomed on a television show. Then we’d cull, start again, laugh some more, and repeat the process over-and-over again.
Finally, in the early hours of the morning during our recent New Zealand ski trip the hobbs brand nooks & cranny was born.
Bingo – a domain name and registered business name soon followed.
The premise behind the words
Don’t over-analyse-it. (And yes mum we mean you).
We want to be renowned for creating beautiful homes, spaces, rooms, hidey-holes, retreats; Luke and I call these gems ‘nooks’, worthy of relaxing in a comfy chair with a chilled wine in hand and discussing your daily wins (and losses).
We’re sure it’s a genetic disposition that makes us obsessed with every minute detail of our renovations including those annoying, small, out-of-the-way narrow spaces or openings we refer to as a crevice, cavity, corner, alcove or you guessed it, a nook.
So there you have it. Tell us what you think below in the comments.
