After seeing Annie’s barrow in her Facebook feed last week, we were over the moon that our hydrangea barrow (remember this one here) had inspired one of our DIYers to create their own at home. She’s also been kind enough to let us share her progress pics with you.
The rusted out wheelbarrow that Mick, Annie’s partner snapped up.
After a coat of ‘stop rusting any further damn you’ as Annie’s describes in dark grey, it makes this barrow look almost brand new again. This is known in the industry as a Dulux Metal Shield Rust Protector in black.
Annie later painted with a top coat of Dulux Metal Shield in Ironstone to give a deep dark grey. It’s a great idea to lay your plants out in position before pouring in the potting mix and then realising you did’t have enough room or they’re not where you wanted them positioned.
The contrast of the rock garden below the barrow enhances the rustic feel and also makes the coloured green leaves really pop against the charcoal grey.
