With our The Block 2016 application (finally) submitted, we thought it could be kinda funny to share some other non-DIY secrets we have ‘hanging in our closet.’ (And that we didn’t rap like Eminem to the judges).
ONE // We’ve been dating for ten years or so. Strike that, possibly eleven or nine? Neither Luke or I would honestly have a damn clue. We have the worst memories in the world. I blame my mother but Luke really has no excuse.

TWO // Luke’s the baby of five brothers (yes all boys). Robyn his mum really wanted a girl but (unfortunately) popped out another boy. No stress, her first grandchild was a girl which makes up for it.
THREE // Despite loving snowboarding, wakeboarding and surfing, Luke as a teenager was obsessed with skateboarding. Yes the Tony Hawk kind. And he was really good at it too. Often he still now gets his deck from the garage to muck around on the driveway or local skate bowl. He is also renowned for judging a town’s value based on the council skate park (so keep that one in mind when house hunting with potential buyers in mind).
Pics. Luke skateboarding at Springwood (2006) and snowboarding in the terrain park Whistler, Canada (2013).
FOUR // My geography is
shit house terrible even after travelling the world for one year. So much so, I still can’t get my head around the fact Mexicans don’t speak Mexican (rather Spanish, silly). I’ve been known to get this wrong more than once publicly (doh).
FIVE // Luke has a habit of getting himself disorientated (all the time). For a male he can certainly read a map I’ll give him that, but he wouldn’t know his left from right when left alone in a strange city. (It’s so funny actually seeing him try and get his bearings).

SIX // I was a horse rider when I was a kid. Loved the sport (still do really). I had a bad fall where my mum’s horse tripped and rolled over me on a cross-country course breaking my left collar bone. Subsequently it’s now way shorter than my right. #lopsided
SEVEN // I’m a vegetarian who is a fraud and eats chicken and salmon (occasionally). I just don’t appreciate chunks of red meat these days. (It’s only a fairly recent consumption shift). Guess what Luke’s fav meal is? Eye fillet steak (naturally).
EIGHT // My dad’s 6 foot 7.5 inches so hence my height (and my 21 year old sister who is even taller than I). It has had advantages such as making sporting teams with no talent (just height) however it made finding a man taller slightly challenging. (Phew, yes Luke is taller especially with spiked hair and shoes on).
NINE // A friend (only a few years ago) introduced us to a lovely couple on the Sunshine Coast. Turns out hubby was none other than Michael Eppelstun (Eppo). You know, the world champion body boarder? Well Luke’s still (completely) star-struck with the fact he got to throw back MANY beers with him on the deck of a wicked surf club, whilst chatting about buying me a surfboard we later rode in Bali (at this place, so amazing).
Pics. View of Luke surfing from our villa in Bali and from Single Fin Cafe, Ulluwatu.
10 // In London by complete fluke I worked at a pub called The Dudley Arms, on Dudley Street next to Dudley House (and my surname’s Dudley. For the meantime anyway, ha). And Luke worked at a pub as an experienced cocktail barman. Woops, we may have extended the truth on that resume however we were at the time
are experienced drinkers of cocktails. Doesn’t that count?
